no real order, just as I think of them.
1. regarding DJax, just stop with the "we have no deep threat now that DJax is gone" stuff. He never played while he was a Ram, so if you never play, you can never be a deep threat. And if you want to point to last night, that doesn't work either because if your qb is constantly under pressure, deep threats can't get deep. Oh, and there is a reason DJax couldn't get playing time.
2. Stafford is over rated. lol, by whom? Nobody has called him Brady or Montana or Manning. BTW, those guys have had clunkers every now and again. He is/was/will always be a gunslinger. With a big arm. He can also read a defense and can manipulate DBs. He made several bad decisions last night, got fooled on a coverage as well, and he held the ball too long. He needs to throw the ball away when the internal clock goes off. He also got no help from McVay.
One last thing on Stafford. He struggles with pressure up the middle...of course he does, as does every other pocket passer. That's been the book on Brady for years. Same for Manning. Pocket passers can avoid edge pressure by stepping up into the pocket. pressure up the middle eliminates that.
3. The defense sans Miller played well. sub 150 yards passing from Tanny at a 5.3 yards per completion and 69 yards rushing is a win. 3 sacks, 1 pick. the penalties is what killed the D. I don't expect that to happen to often.
4. McVay was stubborn to a fault last night. Tenn got pressure with their front 4 and flooding the passing lanes. yet 11 personnel all night. and half the time the rb was motioned out of the backfield. at some point you need to slow down the rush. Bubble screens, rb screens, quick slants, 2 TE sets, put a TE in the backfield to block and chip. Just nothing. Now, is this the recipe to beat the Rams O? No, most teams don't have a Simmons, and can't generate that kind of pass rush with their front 4.
5. lost the turnover battle 2 to 1. And gave up a pick six. That's a recipe for a loss. It happens. I don't mind turnovers, but they basically needed 2 yards for 14 points. tough to overcome.
6. Rams need to turn those fgs into tds. 3 fgs into 3 tds and it's completely different.
7. I read last night that this is soft. No it isn't. AD and Ramsey sure aren't, Kupp and Woods are 2 of the toughest wrs in the league. Stafford is tough. Who exactly is soft? The line was outphysicaled last night, but that doesn't equate to soft...
8. And my favorite: this team is a fraud? In what sense? You play the team that's next on your schedule. were the 99 Rams frauds? All I heard all year is that they never played anyone. they also lost to the titans in the reg season...There are no juggernaut teams out there this year. Every team has had a clunker, and I think the Rams have just a good of chance at a SB as any team out there.
9. Did anyone predict 17-0 this year? No, so there shouldn't be 1 fan that isn't at the very least satisfied with 7-2.
10. unrelated weird stat of the season: home teams are 65-70 this year. where is homefield advantage...
