Folks, this is a bulletin board for fans, and fans of a team that hasn't had a winning record since
2003. So if some fans want to be critical of the Rams, there are concrete reasons for that. Many of them. Drafting and free agency are pivotal in that record of gross ineptitude, so if some fans want to complain about this or any other draft, just accept that. Accept that not everyone is going to want to shut up and clap louder, and it's really, really annoying to read yet one more post telling us we should.
By the same token, if you want to praise the draft, or a trade, or a new hire, or anything else about the Rams, go for it. People shouldn't shout
you down, either. But when others choose a different route, let them go there. Just accept that not everyone is going to agree with you and let it be.
Me, personally? I'm particularly tired of the yearly draft discussions where I'm told "The Rams know better than anyone here," or "They chose the guy they wanted when they wanted him. You can't argue with that." Well, yes I can. I really
can argue with their choices. It's what fans do. Especially fans of a team that hasn't had a winning record since 2003. And you're not telling us anything we didn't already know, or haven't heard a gazillion times. We
assume they choose the guys they like, so that's just not new and critical information for us. It's also not a valid reason to shut up and clap louder.
When it comes to the recourse to authority, sorry, but that rationale doesn't cut it with me or a lot of other fans, for a host of reasons. Aside from the terrible record, it's not just that some fans might be at odds with Rams' coaches and GMs, the Rams FO might be at odds with
other GMs and talent evaluators around the league. When the latter happens, it's "authorities" disagreeing with one another, so that kinda blows up the argument that says fans should just defer to them. How do you defer to experts who don't agree with each other?
Bottom line: Please stop telling us to shut up and go along with whatever the old coaches, or the new coaches decide(d). Especially when it comes to draft reactions, it's really tiresome, and it's old.
