From ESPN:
The Rams traded out of the first round with two tight ends in mind -- Oregon's Terrance Ferguson and LSU's Mason Taylor. They would have been happy with either player, but one team source insists Ferguson was top in that order, so he would have been the pick if Taylor had been there. (Taylor went four spots earlier to the Jets.)
Los Angeles had trade talks with teams in the top 10, but in the end the price of that jump would have been too steep.
The Rams always have a narrative after the fact that they "got the guy they wanted all along".
I figured we wanted Mason Taylor. I think the Rams were hoping to still get Taylor with the trade down.
But instead there is this "we actually liked both guys about the same and we may have even taken Furgeson if they both were available".
Pretty certain we would NOT have done that. Also, no reason to trade up for Ferguson.
I'm not knocking Furgeson, but let's be real. McSnead are very good about sitting up there and talking about how it all worked out just as we planned because we are geniuses.
Lol.
