As the DC, yes, that he is a brand new rookie DC, he must be considered the biggest question mark. Clearly McVay thinks he's the guy, so that's an endorsement that shouldn't be overlooked, since without doubt he could have hired someone of note and experience for the position.

And, without doubt, he will have learning experiences and have to grow into the job just as McVay had to. That's OK. He'll have plenty of checks and balances.
