One thing on the Braden Fiske trade up I've not seen discussed

April 30, 2024 07:07AM
The value of these particular draft picks is getting skewed by the market value of the position. And a pass-rushing DT is currently more valuable than ever in cap room terms than it has probably ever been.

Justin Madubuike just got a 4 year $98 Mill deal.

Chris Jones' new deal is $31m a year

Christian Wilkins is on $24m a year.

Now, if Fiske ends up anything like those players, who knows. But the point is, that position has become a lot more expensive in the league. And so giving up a 2nd rounder and a 5th to go up and get one - that has to be taken into account.

Now we'll see how Fiske plays. Fingers crossed.
