It's a decent debate ... I first started thinking it out of the box like ... "It's not a need, so why wouldn't we totally do something surprising?"
Why a high pick on a WR?
I think at premium positions on an offense oriented (Passing oriented) team is WR.Just because the class is so strong it would be foolish to pass?
We have to draft one in a class this strong ... so I am not going to pass it up when we have an opportunity. It then becomes a matter of "where" and are you aiming for "special" or "competent" ...Insurance against injury?
Kupp on turf has said "it hurts" ...Looking to replace Kupp and/or Tutu in a year or two?
Tutu is gone after this year ... so we'll need one this or next year ... and this year is better top to bottom.Desperate need for a deep threat who isn't 5'8, 165?
It's rare that you can get a height weight speed prospect at 52 ... if you have the chance to do it, and you have a possible open spot there in a year or two ... it's realllllly smart to do it.None/all of the above?
All.Currently we're 5 deep at the position, do we go 6 deep or is someone on the bubble? Could we find that guy with a day 3 pick?
I think we go 6 or 7 deep knowing that Tutu and Skow are UFAs next year, Robinson is a 4th WR on a 2 year deal ... Kupp is getting old for how hard he plays the game, and Trammell is a return man. The WR room can't ever be compromised in an offense that focuses on scoring ... now with AD gone, our defense needs our offense more. Pearsall and Legette at 52 aren't just good picks, they're vertical AND underneath threats.
