If there is any talk of he is spoiled or selfish or anything else Im sorry but I think it is totally and completely off base.
This is a guy that gave literally everything he had to the Rams franchise for 10 years and literally brought them a Super Bowl win along the way. He goes down as without question one of the top 2 or 3 players in the franchises 80 something year history. Maybe the best.
The fact that he decided to walk away after 10 years vs 11 should be of zero consequence. And he did not spring this on the team this morning.
Nothing but appreciation, admiration and thanks to Aaron Donald. Anything else? Now THAT is selfish.
All true, 93. He was the goat, imo.
But the timing just sucks.
He had previously confidently and unambiguously declared that he would be back for 2024.
And pretty much everybody agrees that Rams were poised for a strong SB run in this, his last contract year.
Plus he had 35M reasons to play this year, thanks to a very generous Rams contract.
Deep down, I think his teammates and many of his fans are disappointed with the timing of all this. The timing simply tarnishes my memories of a superstar Ram player. It didn’t have to be like this.
Jack Youngblood, for example, would NEVER have done it like this.
