Only a bit? And only recently?

I dunno... maybe I'm wrong about this kid but I've had some hesitancies all along. Stroud's pre-draft stuff was less, and of a differen nature than Caleb's. The difference is the difference.

Stroud doesn't whine, much less break into tears in his mother's arms, in the stands, after his team loses. And he performs under pressure at the NFL level.

And I can't help but wonder: When those big meanies we call pass rushers in the NFL get to Caleb, time and time again, when they pester and pick on him time and time again (never mind the trash talk) does he have it in him to man up?

I can't fathom his inner course of thought and feeling if he were to be rag-dolled the way Joe Burrow was by Aaron Donald in the Super Bowl.

What if they physically hurt him, again and again? Could he man up, play through the pain, inspire his teammates by getting it done in those conditions the way our own Matthew Stafford does, and did from day one in Detroit?

His adopted and projected persona is more that of a pampered rock star ala Prince than somebody behind a name like Bronco Nagurski.

I can't get past the mama-paints-his-fingernails thing. And that's his chosen means of self-expression. Expression of what, exactly?

He seems somewhat like the young male in the article below, a type the author (a mature woman) writes about in counseling young women to stay away from such men. It's an interesting read. It points to a social phenomenon of our times that is now manifesting itself on the football field.

And I have to ask: Athletic prowess aside, is Caleb Williams one of these, or does he have it what it takes, deep down within himself to lead a group of strong and strong-willed men to victory in a hard-fought, tough, physical game of football at the next level?
