Right in the hands. Should have been a catch. SHOULD have been a great call that extends a drive, taking time away from the Niners AND getting possibly 3 to 7 more points?? Everyone is raising hell at Detroit's Coach. I don't get it. It was aggressive play that led to a very comfortable lead to begin with. It was NOT the Coach's fault that a pass right in the hands was dropped. You MIGHT blame him for the team, as a whole, for curling up in a fetal position through most of the rest of the game. The Niners' backs were against the wall and they simply came out swinging and many things bounced their way. That funky pass Purdy threw against his body that was a HUGE reception. NO WAY does he throw that in a closer game. Niners went for broke and it worked. In the meantime, the Lions had several dropped passes....several blown sack opportunities......piss poor pass coverage. How a dropped 4th down attempt EARLY in the 3rd is blamed for all of that is beyond me. Niners could have rolled over after a missed FG and an INT in the first half. THEY did not.
Personally.....If I'm Detroit's HC, I would have called a FULL time out in the middle of that second half fiasco and had a Come To Jesus meeting with EVERY player on the team. I saw a similar scene during the Ravens game....Guys walking the sideline with dumbfounded looks.
