den-the-coach
Keep in mind that Morris was the interim Head Coach in 2020 for the Falcons. What is holding owners back is his overall record as a Head Coach is 21-38. Now Dennis Allen got a gig & so did Todd Bowles, but they were promoted after the Head Coach retired or moved on. So owners do not like to hire former Head Coaches with losing records, it is hard to sell that to a fan base. A couple of games under .500 is one thing, but again, 21.38 makes it tough.
Now, next year if the Rams win a Super Bowl and the defense balls out, I believe Morris at that point would get an opportunity, however, it is possible his next opportunity might be with the Los Angeles Rams although I hope Sean McVay stays as Head Coach until he is 50.
Hard to disagree with any of that den although I don't put much weight into being an "interim" HC. That simply means he was the most convenient option at the time. His not becoming the HC of Atl after that confirms that.
I get the losing record being hard to sell to a fan base but you would think after we won the SB, he would be one of the hottest coordinators in line for a promotion yet he didn't get any legit offers. Maybe the consensus was that the players (3 hof'ers) were more responsible for the season than Morris was? IDK
To me, what Morris has done this year has been more impressive than that SB run but as I said, I am not sure how much credit goes to Morris or his staff. Henderson sure got a job offer pretty quickly.
Those two 3rd rounders if Morris would leave would be a welcomed compensation for sure but like you, I have a feeling his next chance might be as the Rams HC and I am not sure how I feel about that. lol
Should be fun watching this all play out!
#HelmetHornsMatter
“Well, the color is good, I like the metallic blue,” Youngblood recently said while laughing, via NFL Journal. “The horn is terrible. It looks like a ‘C.’ When I first saw it on the logo I honestly thought it was a Charger logo.
“Now when I see it on the helmet, it just isn’t a ram horn. There is no distinct curl like a mature ram horn. I don’t know how the Rams could get that wrong. That is your symbol and it has been for what? Seventy years or more? Longer than I have been alive? It’s just not us, it’s not the Rams.”---Mr. Ram Jack Youngblood
