Once his tape is picked apart, the scouts will sour. He checks some boxes, but I don't think I ever saw anything from him that made me think he was more than managing a good team at Michigan. National championship run kinda confirmed that for me too. I just can't think of a single stretch where he put his stamp on the game.
My sentiments as well. Aside from 7 - 12 yard passes to the TE, I didn't see much from McCarthy. Could be a function of a lot of factors, though. I mean...why pass the ball when you RB's are running 40 yards for TD's and your defense is the best in the nation?

Penix will be a tough eval too. Older, often injured, and some of the things he showed in the natty game highlight some of the things I think he did all season that will get burned under a microscope as well.
I think that Penix has put a lot on tape over the past two seasons. He also remained healthy during this time period. My question is:
Is there ever a time when a player can drop the injury-prone tag on him? I mean...we know that Terrell Lewis couldn't. But has Christian McCaffrey? He's been healthy as an ox for two seasons now. Not a single nick.
