Most teams would do that, but Shanahan sometimes does stupid things with his QBs. I would not be surprised that even if he had the #1 sowed up he would play Purdy. If it comes down to the Rams having to win that last game in order to get into the PO I'd bet that the 9ers would be super motivated to whip us. They'd cut us no slack.
It'll be a good game one way or the other.
