Dotson is no different than any other player. He wants to maximize his income. Home town discounts are the figments of fans' imaginations for the most part...maybe an exception in an unusual case. No unusual case here.
And "System" will play no role in him accepting an offer; it only plays a role by the team making the offer.
I think we're looking at something like 4 years $55 mil with perhaps years 1 and maybe 2 guaranteed since for players its the guaranteed money that counts as much as the amount of the contract. I wish he's do a 5 year deal, but an Oline guy of his age might be reluctant since a 3rd contract certainly is a possibility. My bet is his agent will work for a 3 year deal.
Let's face it, Dotson has become a core player. He's the right age, he stays healthy, and he is the NFL epitome of a RG. There is no other position on the Oline that the Rams need to go spend big bucks for. If they do anything about LT, it will likely be the draft and it might be as high as their 1st round pick.
