If the Rams stay in roughly the same spot they are in right now, this is what I am thinking today:
1. There are only really 3 non-QB players I like that high: WR Harrison Jr and LTs Fashanu and Alt.
Those would be my targets today, in that order.
2. I don't like any of the Edge or CBs that high this year. So if that's rhe route I wanna go, I'm trading down.
3. As far as the QBs: I need more time on these guys obviously, but some early thoughts on each one:
Williams - A playmaker. I have concerns though. Size, his downfield accuracy and mental health. Still my #1.
Maye- Love his size and athletic ability. Worry about his processor, but it seems to have sped up this year. #2
McCarthy - love his arm, love him coming from a pro system under center, like his ability to make plays with his legs. Concerned about modest production. Ohio State and maybe playoffs will tell me more. #3
Jayden Daniels- he is absolutely electric with his arm and his legs. Best athlete QB in the draft. I am concerned about his weight or lack there of, and his accuracy at times. it's getting better. #4
Quin Ewers- I hope he can play again this year, I need to see more, he can make plays with his arm and legs. He's a gunslinger, so not for everyone. love his accuracy, his mechanics need work. #5
Michael Penix - most accurate passer in college. Traditional pocket passer with little mobility. His injury history concerns me. #6
Sanders isn't coming out according to his dad. So look for him in the 2025 draft.
4. If the Rams are drafting around #8, Williams, Maye, Harrison and Fashanu are gone, So is at least 1 more QB. Won't even guess who. So that leaves Alt or the 4th or 5th best QB. I trade back, get premium picks and take best available from CB, Edge, QB. As long as Alt is gone. Otherwise, I stay and grab Alt.
If a kid like Daniels or Nix slides, I may try and trade back into the first and snag one to get them on that 5 year rookie deal.
That's today, ask me tomorrow and I might change my mind.
