I'm just curious about what a TRUE H-back would look like in this offense. AWESOME flexibility from the back-field, attached to the line and/or in the slot. A TE/FB hybrid that can run some, be a more than capable blocker and offer a legit pass-catching threat. There used to be a few guys around like this a couple of decades ago. It seems like many current athletes could definitely fill the role if on that can move at 235-245 pounds was also willing to block like someone that size.
Everything has gotten soft. Hard to find reasonably athletic guys than can and are willing to block. A lot of LBs fit the mold athletically and with the proper mindset minus the pass-catching skills.

In general I agree. I've always felt 12 personnel- if one of the TE has the ability to move around out into the slot, in the backfield, etc.- offers greater versatility.
But in the Rams current situation they do have wide receivers in Kupp, Nacua and Skowronek who can all block very well and do a lot of things from 11 personnel that 12 personnel concepts would want. Their versatility in that regard alleviates that need.
But overall, I would like to see Davis developed into a TE2 that can then be used more situationally. He has that sort of ability (as does Higbee).
