This exciting Rams team has exceeded all reasonable expectations for so many young players, no question.
Fans now are reasonably thinking about playoff possibilities, rather than earning the 1st overall draft pick. Cough, cough…
However…
There are 2 remaining positions that Rams simply must upgrade if at all possible this year.
Number 1 is Hoecht. A fine fellow and he has DL value but he’s currently a square peg in a round hole in Morris’ D. He’s asked to do things that he’s incapable of doing. Solution? Bring in inexpensive journeyman? Resort to using bench players more frequently?
Number 2 was Kendrick, the human catastrophic penalty machine. Thankfully, Kendrick’s stupidity has probably taken that decision out of the hands of Morris. Now we should see some combo of Shelley or Tomlinson introduced in Kendrick’s place. Either should be an upgrade.
So, apparently, one of these 2 positions of weakness should now be upgraded without continued Morris dithering.
If somehow Rams can upgrade from Hoecht I really like their playoff chances in this rebuild year.
