Pat Kirwan pointed this out when they were debating the rule in the spring-

When you look at the linemen and how low they try and get...with their heads close to the ground-- if someone were to get their head bent forward (hyper-flexed)... with all that uncontrollable push behind them you'd have a broken neck. It only takes one time.

He mentioned something about it being similar to rugby....but I don't know anything about rugby.

It should be banned.
