Some other guys who play on the left side have also been mentioned as potential RG candidates.
I'll be interested, when we can see more, who takes reps where, and what the coaches think.
The writer of the above article has bought into the 1984'esque revisionist view of Bruss. Saying he was never projected to be a starter in his rookie year is blasphemy to what happened, and what we should remember. Bruss was slotted to be a jump-in-the-pool-worthy day one projected starter when drafted, and after a few less than distinguishing workouts, the narrative went to mid-season starter and then slipped to maybe some playing time by end of season.
The current mantra of competition at every position seems especially tuned to RG, with Bruss and Shelton having an equal place on the starting line, along with anyone else who might pan out as the best fit for the position.
In an ideal world Bruss would pull ahead by a large margin - and while I'm pulling for that to happen, I'm not holding my breath. He is bringing a combined ACL-MCL injury (How corrected surgically? How do these two-ligament injuries usually fare?) with the inevitable subsequent risk of re-injury, along with strength and conditioning work for the rest of his body into camp. If he starts he will be expected to last all season. I wish him and the Rams well.
