Each time someone ranks us last I hear the old coach in Major League cackling ...
It's a great opportunity for a player or 2 or 3 to make a name for himself before we fall into a pile of money next year.
If nothing else these rankings are based on not seeing these groups play. Nor are his criteria being explained.
THT is a tremendous athlete and could be an excellent rookie slot cornerback. As was explained in that
video RamsJunkie posted --- [
ramsrule.com]
the outside corners get help from the sidelines on vertical routes, essentially double-teaming them.
Making the QB throw a difficult pass based on position.
Rochelle will get help on every down, either from the sideline or from the safety if it is an in cutting route.
So, you can have your slot guy get help, because it is the more difficult assignment in most cases (faces
two-way gos) but with someone like THT he's fast and explosive.
And if Durant plays some slot, he's just as fast or close (same ballpark) and also explosive.
But either way, the outside guy has the sideline.
So, the secondary could surprise whoever made that list.
People should really watch that video. It's very good and explains things in a simple way.
If they did there would be better understanding and better informed discussions. It's not
long and well done by a very smart guy.
Edge rushers . . . harder to tell but similar. We don't know what we've got. Hoecht is a question mark. We're hoping he
can play a full season at a high level...we'll see but it seems he's a guy who gets it and will improve.
The rookies there, only Young has star potential. The rest - as a group - are limited but again, will they be the worst?
How can anyone know at this point? I watched the Hampton highlights after the draft, not that impressive. Didn't
look like a dominant player, looked okay. If you don't dominate on that level then will be tough for that to translate
into the NFL.
Anyway, IMO it is better to actually see guys play in some games before ranking them.
