But once again I will say I like Durant's game and Tomlinson is similar in that we should feel him right away back there. These two corners are a significant deviation from the Long and Rochell picks in that both play heads up with ball awareness and instinct. So I feel like we have 2/3 of the required corners back there. Can they find someone to function in a third role, we will see. Not the worst look though, to be one short back there. Most teams after all don't go three deep in playmakers at corner, there's usually a subpar type in the grouping. Also and btw we'll be a little prone to larger and more physical WR groups but hopefully not too much.
So what this means is the rush is the key. Two years ago we won it all with an iffy secondary thanks to a fantastic rush. We won't have anything near that of course but if we can get good contain from the young Edge group plus one of them show some threat on third down we might be a middle of the road unit, which would in many ways be a miracle given what went out the door without any vet replacements.
Clearly they plan to get interior rush in that defensive front on passing downs, given their DL selections in the draft. Can that counter being a bit weak on the edges? Maybe. Because we do have AD in that group.
But I expect we're gonna be weak vs the run which is bad news vs Seattle and SF.
