Thank you for the clips I haven't seen but they are mostly people talking about him. I asked for a specific highlight that shows him doing something other than run through a gaping hole and get tackled upon contact. I want to see him shake a DT in the backfield or a safety in the second level. I want to see an option route in the passing game or the ability to run a seam route. I want to see him stone a DE who broke free to the QB. I want to see him move a pile three yards after contact. I want to see him beat a MLB to the edge. Again, show me something I haven't seen from nearly every other RB I studied.
Frankly, I think I get what the Rams want here. Akers came from as similar college experience with a subpar line and had to work extra for his yards. I see a similar back here. But for some reason, Akers and McVay reached an impasse last year and apparently, there was a disagreement about how he was expected to be used in the system. Once they came to an agreement (Akers found his place), his numbers improved dramatically.
There is a term for QB's who fit a team philosophy but do nothing extra to move the needle..."system QB". I think this guy is a good system RB.
