in 1981 he would not trade for Fred Dean--who wanted to come to LA. The price was right--but Klosterman would not part with
his precious picks...and he goes to SF and is a missing piece.

Rams could have been good in 1981, but Klosterman failed to reload and made some bad picks
too.

Main thing is Klosterman/Rosenbloom never would commit to a legit QB. The most important
position they thought they could skimp by. Always a step behind. The teams that
won Super Bowls had excellent Qbing, Rams was decent, at times good, but never consistently
good.


And if the scrutiny was then like it is now---
he'd get ripped

Mike Fanning 9th overall? Could have had Russ Francis, Louis Wright, or Louis Kelcher
or traded up from 9 and taken Walter Payton, or someone---we had plenty of ammo to do it

Now, I am not that critical of him, but if Snead did that, he'd get called a clownshow

1978--Rams wanted Earl Campbell but would not pay the price, which was not that much.
Instead they traded up for Elvis Peacock.

Houston moved from 17 to 1 (swapped 1sts) for a 2-3-4 and a TE
Rams could have matched that

Klosterman would not pull trigger---"too expensive"

George Andrews, Mel Owens, decent players but not worth where they were taken

So while Klosterman was great---just pointing out that if there were a board like this
then he'd have been called a clown car plenty for his screw ups and he didn't
have a ring to show for it
