I also saw that the key deep plays made, especially in the AFC games, were against press man brackets.
I also saw that Hurts had players open deep, but didn't pull the trigger even though he had time.
Instead, when he threw deep, it was pre-determined by him at snap. Any of the AFC QBs would have found those deep balls.
That's really the key against SF... just need time in the pocket to find the deep balls and Eagles did give that to Hurts.
Just that Hurts isn't in the league of top passing QBs.
Play that coverage and don't have the threat of a pass rush... definitely won't be effective, will get burnt badly on intermediate/long plays.
What the Eagles/Niners game should show people is how important both sides of the lines are.
NFC QBs on these teams aren't superstars and passing savants. Put Purdy behind the Rams O-Line and he won't find the same success.
AFC teams are built around their QBs so there tends to be more "holes"... like the Bengals not really having an offensive line, but they have an awesome QB that bails them out.
This will be interesting super bowl, to see 2 differently built teams... which path would win. Is the NFL going back to winning at the line? Or will the era of the pass happy QB continue?
