I like a more 'in your face' defense as well. I'm from Maryland so the Ravens are my reference point.
I do, too. And you are reasonable. I have said over and over I like a Ryan/Saleh?Quinn, 4-3 defense.
Wink Martindale doe that, too.
That is a reasonable discussion.
Look that this bell chart. As long as the discussion about Morris is in the green it is whithn reality.
No one thinks Morris/Rams defense is elite (blue portion) of bell curve/
What I think should be countered is there are some that think Morris is in the red, in terms
of should have been fired after 8 games last year. He lacks smarts and stones. That he
is a failure of the order that needs to be fired.
The red area of this chart is a defense that is last in the NFL, bottom 5.
There are extremists in everything. Religion, politics, business-there are business people
who would exploit every resource on the planet, and there are environmentalists who don't want
to let you wipe your butt with Charmin.
Most people are in the middle on that. My position all along is that Rams defense under Morris
was not elite, but good enough to win with...and varying depending on circumstances, but
under no circumstances was it as bad as the extremists said it was.
So, you saying you want a defensive more like the Ravens is not extreme. It is a discussion
that is within the realms of the green in the chart. If someone countered that by saying, "No, Morris' defense
is in the blue, it's elite. why would we change to Ravens style" then that would be extreme.
So, the reason these guys are so objectionable is the extremism they display--and that they
cannot backup their views.
For 2 years, I have posted stills, stats, quotes, and everything I can to show Rams defense/Morris is
in the range of the green, and still, they lie and say it is in the red area. Fire the @#$%&, they
say.
