Stating your opinion of what failure means doesn't "prove" anything. Random stats that don't really illustrate how the defense is performing as a whole and when it matters most don't either. I get the impression that you don't fully appreciate that yours is just an opinion as well. For example, you don't consider a noticeable dropoff from past performance as problematic, or a failureby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Ok, so now we've got you on record. You think the defense is fine. I think it would be an interesting poll question to see just how many agree with you. My point, which you seem not to put any merit in, is that from where they were to now, is a failure and that Morris has proven to be the wrong man for the job. You prefer to view it in a vacuum. Like all teams start from zero to begin the yeby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm curious to see how this plays out. On paper, we shouldn't have a chance. In theory though, with such obvious odds against us, I won't be surprised at all if this is a win for the Rams. We should not win. The Cardinals should win. Mysteriously, everything goes our way just enough to be the <ahem> "odds".by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteAlbaNY_Ram Here's the NFL rules for vaccinated players (from this site: ) 1. Vaccinated individuals who test positive and are asymptomatic will be isolated and contact tracing will promptly occur. 2. At the end of the day, you're just trying to twist the argument, apparently in effort to avoid the question at hand. You don't want to recognize the official stat used by the NFL to rank team defenses, that's fine. I specifically said to forget all the numbers and asked you a straightforward question. One that you continue to ignore or avoid.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm not ignoring anything. It was 16th heading into this week. And acting as if no other team in the league has had return TD's against them is just as cherry-picked as some of your statistical "proof". Are you ignoring the question I posed to you?by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotenapoli No grit With the exception of a fewI hope you're wrong but I don't disagree. Rams and Dodgers both suffer from an apparent lack of mettle.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Worst part is, they probably didn't even test positive. Some arbitrary guideline or protocol.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
The team's record isn't directly the owner's responsibility though. If they are spending money and promoting the team, the football people are responsible for winning games. If he was being cheap or not interested in the team, I'd blame him more.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteJoeMad be glad that Mr. Kahn didn't buy the Rams.Is it Khan that has sucked? I mean, I don't get the impression that he doesn't support his team or that he meddles in football decisions. Granted, he's chosen poorly in those who are supposed to be winning him football games but not in ways that I'd consider a "bad" owner.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Those stand alone stats only illustrate how the individual parts can misrepresent the whole. But taking a #1 unit and dropping to #16 is a failure in my book. Context matters and you seem willing to ignore it. We saw just last year that this unit could be a dominant force. This year, we're in a constant state of hanging on by our fingernails. I don't recall if you answered before, but forgby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
While Stafford deserves criticism for the mistakes he's made, the big picture is that he's had one of the best seasons a Rams QB has ever had. IMO, the expectations are so sky high that we're all putting a negative spin on what he's done. At the end of the year, there very well could be a negative tone surrounding a QB with 4,000+ and 40 TD's and 10+ wins. A QB who is one of the highest ratedby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Meyer won't get bailed out by USC. Can't imagine him hanging on in Jacksonville though. Seems to be a victim of being a great coach when you have massive advantages in talent in depth.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Because I don't believe that it's the personnel who are failing to do their jobs. They are being put in a position to fail. Whether that's due strictly to scheme failure or execution or players not being suited to what's being asked of them, it is Morris who is employing the approach. You say it isn't "his" scheme" but that's disingenuous. He is the DC. Whether he invented itby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Seems to me, if we play the scheme and purposely leave cushions for the WR's to take short, quick, easy completions, that it would actually make things easier for Murray and take away any confusion he might have. Offenses have been very comfortable picking apart our zones. We used to actually be very adept at shutting down mobile/running QB's. Haven't seen much of that this year.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I will, as long as the defense continues to underperform and be a liability. Not to mention, Morris using a passive approach that allows long, extended drives. Why you don't hate that is the question.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteJimYoungblood53 Quotemoklerman Not when he probably shouldn't have been hired in the first place.. interesting....I know you don't agree but he was a buddy hire that McVay thought he could get by with. Morris has never been more than a warm body as a DC or HC and was an uninspired choice for our defense. And he continues to prove it.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteJimYoungblood53 Quotemoklerman Which is how I remember it too. It anyone was calling for Morris to be fired after one game that's beyond silly. LOLNot when he probably shouldn't have been hired in the first place. He's done nothing since week 1 to change anyone's mind. If you want to die on the Raheem Morris hill though, more power to you.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Which is how I remember it too. And it wasn't like people weren't angry with Stafford and the offense. People were calling them out all over the place. But the offense has been scoring enough to cover up the defense's shortcomings for most of the year. Yes, they also put the defense in a tough spot at times but the defense and special teams have been far more problematic than the offense.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteJimYoungblood53 Quotemoklerman You repeatedly bring up Stafford when people are talking about the defense. because during the losing streak the offense was the problem,, throwing pick 6s, fumbling it to the 6 another pick to the 2, getting stopped on 4th down 30% conversion rate on 3rd downs---- and people were calling for Morris' firing. Who's the DC? Staley is gone, this is Morris' defense now. If he chose to take the job on the promise that he could emulate what Staley was doing and not his own thing, then that's stillby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
It's definitely better to have the yellow stripe if you're going to go with white pants. I like the bold blue stripe, a la the Steelers, but the blue and white pants with no yellow makes it seem like the top half of the uniform and bottom half don't go together.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteJimYoungblood53 Just showing that you may be a bit hypocritical to use the eye test for your purposes to discredit the defense, but not for Stafford who you are 100% behind and use stats to back that upI don't know what that even means. 100% behind? If that means I'm hoping for the best from him, that's true. If it means I've supported every decision he's made, then you're making thingsby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
So, you're saying the eyeball test is good now? Everyone's been saying the defense doesn't pass the eyeball test but you keep arguing the stats show otherwise. So, aren't you the one being hypocritical? I never said that Stafford is better than people are realizing. Nor did I say he didn't contribute to the Rams losses. Ramstein intimated that the secret to beating the Cardinals could be exposed by the Rams loading up on the run. That they could establish the "blueprint". Which I don't disagree with as a part of the plan. But just putting up 150+ on it's own is only part of it and I'm not sure it's a primary one. You still have to outscore the Cardinals. I think it's safe to assume Goff would struggle. Look at what he did under Fisher. Those '70's teams were not passing in running situations either. It was run, run, third and long when you had to pass. That's a big part of why QB's from that era look so less efficient. Teams just didn't regularly run on early downs or pass short as a substitute for the running game. It's a big part of whyby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com

Yeah, after Vince broke his thumb against the Steelers he was never the same. Quickly faded with the Rams, struggled with the Bills and then couldn't even catch on with the Packers.
