It's hard finding people sometimes who are willing to take the time to engage in casual conversation. I used to meet the most interesting people in the waiting room in doctor's offices, or a car repair shop, while standing in line and my favorite place of all... at the airport ( I don't travel anymore, but I used to). But these days, everybody has their noses buried in their cell phones. They don't even look up to see who else is there. I rarely pull my cell phone out at all in those situations. I'm usually looking for someone to talk to, even if for just a few minutes. But it's tough. I had a very nice chat with an elderly lady at my dentist's office a couple of months ago and we were both bemoaning the fact that passing the time chatting with people is becoming a rare thing to do. My hygienist was running late so we talked for maybe 20 minutes or so. It was just nice to connect with someone, to look at them, listen to them, on a human to human level. I enjoy it.
