My favorite foods once served at the Fresno Fair no longer exist. My favorite was the Italian Sausage Onion/Bell Pepper sandwiches. And I'm not the only one that misses them... every single person I know my age, or near my age, that grew up showing animals at the fair will tell you the same thing... they were the BEST.
Today's Fair food is still good, very good... but I do miss some of those old treats... the old Beerocks, The Shish-Ka-Bob sandwiches.
Still around, (I think, I haven't been in a few years), are the Pismo Beach cinnamon rolls. For some reason they don't quite match up with the ones actually sold in Pismo but they are still to die for.
Lemme' go back to those Italian Sausage sandwiches. We used to spend the night at the fair, sleeping in the stalls with our cows, sheep, pigs, whatever... we ate those sandwiches for breakfast, brunch, lunch, mid-afternoon snack, and dinner... and sometimes another just before sleep time.
