I did not take it that way, "Jemach" that is... you may be right... Jemach can answer for himself.
And I don't think 'not playing starters in preseason' is a consideration for anyone.... rather.. it's how much do you play them, when, and why... and then: (most important to me), where is that line of demarcation between 'not needed and risk of injury' and being fully prepared? Obviously for us - as this relates to McVay... which I have NOT done in this discussion... but will, because I think it interesting...
I don't know where his line is drawn. You and ZN are arguing, insisting actually, that the Oakland game ends the debate about McVay's strategy for starters in preseason OR at least not in the least indicative of what his strategy may be. (IOW, it tells us nothing) - That could be true... to some extent.... I'm on the fence about that one.... but couple that with 'facts' that the Ram's are not 'there'... and last year he did sit starters in prep for the playoffs, (and sitting starters for an entire game is NOT backed up by a lot of historical precedence)... and I think it's not only a fair question... (be it asked before the playoffs OR the first regular season game) but has real relevance to a team's preparedness.
Seemed to me jemach was taking all that into consideration... far beyond the Oakland game... which is NOT to say I agree with jemach.... but I will admit that in part, at least, I do... it's a bit of a worry for me, as I don't know McVay that well yet. And I DO think this team, especially Goff but the entire team as well... need work.
I like the comparison to 'known' and well 'respected' other HC's... and zn and Max's "bet"... - JamesJM
