The guy runs great routes and gets open. His problem is if the defender is able to get an arm inside of Cooks arms (as he catches the ball)....he always drops the ball.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Forget Davis. He will be a gonner now. Just assume for a second that Gurley deteriorates rapidly and he needs to be shelved. What do the Rams do? Brown was showing good progress, including some receiving game before he got hurt. Kelly never showed anything. With Gurley gone....the Rams are going to need another RB with skills. Rumors of arthritis. If true, it gets exponentially worse. The McVay regime has done well bringining in WR talent. Henderson is the first McVay-selected RB via either draft or free agency (can't really count a UDFA like Davis). I trust McVay's judgement bringing in skill players. I just sucks to see the affirmation that Gurley's ending might be accelerated.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Put it this way. If the Rams didn't have Goff (and instead had Case Keenum....which means they would likely been about 9-7 and missed the playoffs) and he had the season he had in 2018 with some other team.....and was suddenly cut after the Super Bowl....YOU KNOW about 10 teams would be tripping over themselves trying to sign Goff....Rams included.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Pats focused on having their D-line blow up the trenches.....which they did. They knew Goff didn't have one of his security blankets in Kupp. The other was Woods....so they double teamed him all game. They took their chances single covering Cooks....but just got physical with him when needed. It almost blew up on them because Goff managed to get Cooks the ball at/near the endzone twice (albeiby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I was growing up in the New York Metro area, and back when they had Doug Kotar, Craig Morton, Brad Van Pelt. I had the Varsity jacket with the red fake-leather sleeves and the winter cap with the pom-pom on top. I would watch games with all my friends who all had the same gear. I tried so hard to root for the Giants. It just wasn't working. Then one day in 1976 I saw a Rams home game (inby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Rams receivers are good at what they do, provided they don't have to fight 50/50 for a ball. Woods and Kupp are good at getting to the designated spot....but as we heard last night.....the Pats double teamed Woods. So they took their chances with Reynolds and Cooks being singled. Goff could rarely find Reynolds....and Cooks just got out-muscled on a few scoring opportunities. In games likeby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
In a normal growth pattern, a good/great coach would have had the Rams at 8-8 in year one. Then 10-6 or 11-5 in year two ;including the playoffs. For year three, can the expectation be any lower than 12-4?by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff and Kupp were in lock step. Things were improving with Reynolds and the TE's in a few games. But there just wasn't the chemistry and connection like Goff had with Kupp. If Kupp were healthy and in that game....he would have been the perfect safety option for Goff all night long. That said....Reynolds seemed to get open several times...but Goff just could not see him. The O-line just cby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Does it suck that the Rams lost today? You bet. But make no mistake....they don't sniff this Super Bowl without McVay. He will learn. He now has the experience of having played in the game. If they don't play the Patriots next year.....you won't be able to use the SB experience argument against him. Now if the Jets, Bills, and Dolphins could wake up from their 15 year slumber.....and acby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Rams going up 7-3 could have changed the whole complexion of the game. He has sure hands and rarely gets tagged with a "drop"...but on contested plays where he has the ball in his hands......he can get stripped.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I would have thought their "smallish" size would have matched up with with Edleman, Woodhead, and others. But with the exception of Littleton making a few plays.....they were schooled all day long.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Disappointed yes....but not pissed. And I live in the New England area and have to put up with @#$%& Pat fans. But, I take these types of losses much better in my older age because I always remember the taste of many consectutive 4-12 seasons. But this season was a dang fun ride. Never saw them get pushed around for all 4 quarters like today. On a few plays it was stunts the Pats were running (and blitzes). But most of time....it was just straight bull-rushing and the Rams O-line was back peddling. I supposed there is some coaching that Goff can do with his O-line coaches to better handle some of the schemes. But at the end of the day....it just seemed regardlessby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com

Completely agree on the comments about Rams having to put Gurley on the injury report if he is indeed injured. The entire eyes of the NFL are watching Gurley right now....so they wouldn't be able falsify his status if he was indeed injured. Even some players that have illness get listed. But something like tendinitis, which is more af a residual pain....rather than acute injury or illness canby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
I consider myself to be a bit more of a "don't count the money yet" person. And I know during the game....if the Rams are up by 10.....I will still be a complete wreck, thinking they need 20 more points to be safe. But I have complete faith in this Rams team to get back into a game if they are faced with an early deficit. At the same time.....if the Rams go up by 10+ points, I don'tby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Pats were 0-4 on the road in games indoors...or south of the Mason-Dixon line. Losses to the Lions, Jags, Titans, Dolphins. Not exactly a list of juggernauts. The point being... the Pats love the mystique of the cold-weather games.... it's plays right into their hands. Take both their playoff games as evidence. But when the/weather conditions are not an issue....they can't beat anyoneby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
In a press conference about five weeks into the season he was asked if he would ever wear the big cowboy hat and and sheepskin jacket that Bum used to wear at games. He said he would do it if they made it to the Superbowl, however the NFL has strict requirements on what coaches can wear, so he might need to wear it the week before the game.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Not ticked off about having to share snaps with CJ. I think he genuinely sees the value in having the option of CJ. But...I think he's pissed at how he performed in the NFC Championship game. I don't think he needs the accolades and glory of a great performance. But.... he just wants to play great football when it counts.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com

Giants got to him early. They couldn't get to him on every play....but the never let him feel comfortable. It's going to be important for the Rams to get a good knock on him early in the game. Since those Superbowls vs the Giants Brady has shortened his release time....so it's not going to be easy.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Granted, winning in Arrowhead in January is a huge accomplishment. But the Pats are definitely beatable away from Gillete Stadium. Rams are 7 and 2 away from the Coliseum. You could argue that some of their home games were in neutral field conditions as far as crowd noise goes (Packers, Eagles). So, a loud anti-rams crowd (If that's the case) shouldn't affect the Rams.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
He gets it. He understands it's about the team. His self-criticism of why CJ needed to get snaps because he (Gurley) was not playing well is underplayed. Law of averages was definitely in the Rams favor. Others have mentioned the litanny of non-calls the Rams had to endure in this game.....so I won't repeat them.by chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
With six games coming under the Fisher years....where the average was almost 9 penalties per game. Then under McVay things got cleaned up and average 4.5 penalties a game. Meanwhile the Saints average was around 4 per game. So at least under McVay I would say it's within the margin of error (in so far as a ref showing favoritism). If the McVay-Vinovitch games were up near 9 penalties per gameby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
Would I want the home run? Of course. But in the playoffs, the next best thing is to move the ball while keeping it out of the hands of the opponents high powered offense. CJ brings just that. Just deflate the opposing defense with long drives with multiple steady first-down runs and have their offense watch the seconds/minutes drain off the clock. No way Snead or McVay could have expecby chunkmeister - RamsFootballFans.com
