I was growing up in the New York Metro area, and back when they had Doug Kotar, Craig Morton, Brad Van Pelt. I had the Varsity jacket with the red fake-leather sleeves and the winter cap with the pom-pom on top. I would watch games with all my friends who all had the same gear. I tried so hard to root for the Giants.
It just wasn't working. Then one day in 1976 I saw a Rams home game (in the Coliseum) on TV with James Harris at QB, Lawrence McCutcheon at RB, Harold Jackson at WR, and defense that included not one....but TWO Younglboods, Merlin Olsen, Hacksaw Reynolds. I was completely hooked. Seeing the horns from that point on was a complete thrill. I knew I found my team.
