Actually, offenses are trending away from 11 personnel because D’s have adjusted to it. The trend now seems toward more running game and 12 personnel. Having said that, a CB with Ramsey’s skills should be able to play very well in any scheme.by Rams43 - RamsFootballFans.com

Here’s Merlin… Biggest problem is we had @#$%& safeties. Morris was definitely impacted by them. That affects what you can call and how you can approach things. This is why Staley flipped the safeties when he came in. This is where Morris made his biggest mistake in not doing the same. Second biggest problem is we had a bunch of corners who did not take a step forward. Guys like Rochell andby Rams43 - RamsFootballFans.com
Here’s more Oldnotdead… He works in their FO and I went to college with him so I've known him for 52 years. He confirmed multiple calls between Holmes and Snead. The actual problem seems to be with Ramsey's agent and their salary expectations. That IMO is the biggest hangup with any and all deals. Pick 18 is their second first rounder. The earliest first round pick is the one the Rams gaveby Rams43 - RamsFootballFans.com
Here’s Merlin… Decline + Rams are paying him (Ramsey) as an eraser + we had a bottom third defense in many metrics. We need to reinvest in the defense, in particular the secondary. Does it make sense to try to do that while you're pissing cap space away to a moody corner whose best days are behind him. Truth is we are fortunate that the league at large seems to hold him in high regard right noby Rams43 - RamsFootballFans.com
I hear ya, Dynasty. The ONLY reason I could support a Ramsey trade is if the acquiring team offered Rams a king’s ransom in picks and/or players. Otherwise, I support the ‘bird in the hand’ philosophy.by Rams43 - RamsFootballFans.com
Is Jim Everett now a ‘hater’ and ‘liar’? I mean, he DID come out with a critique of Morris just now. So doesn’t that make him like all the rest of us haters and liars? See where I’m going with this ridiculousness? Lol.by Rams43 - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteAlbaNY_Ram I know no one has a crystal ball, but what if the 2022 Rams ran more press corner or whatever defense anyone here prefers ... and they ended up giving up more points than they did ... and losing even more games in the process? Here’s Oldnotdead… One I believe because I've heard it via a credible source, and its very obvious is Detroit. They have two first and second round picks, #18 and #56 make sense. Their need is obvious. With Ramsey played properly they could be a very credible playoff contender. Ramsey has at least 4 maybe 5 years left in him. Here’s kurtfaulk… The sad part is the Rams paid AD $31m to watch qbs pass the ball within 2 secs to a wide open wr all game. He must feel dead inside, until he looks at his bank account and sees it rising by $1.6m every week.by Rams43 - RamsFootballFans.com

QuoteLMU93 I have a hard time seeing them get a top-15 pick for him. Someone like Dallas (27th overall) or Philly (30th) plus, say, a 2024 2nd or 3rd, seems more likely to me. I wonder if some team might dangle their 2023 2nd and 2024 1st. And then you just hope that team has a bad year and it nets out as a high pick for LA... Peter King has insider information that I don’t, including league execs’ opinions on Ramsay’s worth, so I’ve got to give him credibility here. But, speaking for myself, there is no way I would trade Ramsey for those suggested picks. It’s an anti-Snead scenario if you ask me. Trade a proven elite 28 year old CB for such paltry pick selections? Oh, HELL no!by Rams43 - RamsFootballFans.com
In all 3 scenarios the draft compensation to Rams is inadequate, imho. Hard pass. Could at best draft a top CB with the Patriot 1st at #14 and gain cap relief but with an unproven rookie. Not good enough. Where’s the big upside for Rams? Ramsey is 28 and in his prime at a premium position in today’s NFL under contract for 3 more years. What if the soft zone D isn’t inherently evil? That, used properly, it can be quite effective? But, what if Morris is using it too much and at wrong times? He does use the ultra soft zone more than any DC in the league, after all. Could it be that mixing it up would actually be more effective? What if posters that have different opinions on Morris’ style were not really ‘haters’ or ‘liars’by Rams43 - RamsFootballFans.com
Don’t do it. Elite CB’s are few and far between and Ramsey is still only 28 years old. I do think that he’s not being used in a way to maximize his skills and value to this team due to deficiencies elsewhere on this D. But that’s been discussed in other threads. There is one, and only one exception to my statement above. IF some team offers Rams a stupid good offer that literally blows themby Rams43 - RamsFootballFans.com

And overly pessimistic, SoCal, imo. Rams don’t have to have best players at many positions in order to win a lot of games. A mixture of elite players and good players can get them to playoffs where anything can happen. And top notch coaching is a big help, too. Two things are a must for any successful WR. He must be able to get open and he must catch the ball when targeted. AR does both very well. But he can’t throw himself the ball. That’s on Stafford mostly and on McVay a little bit. I’m hoping that OL gets fixed which will give Stafford time to read the field post snap. Then it’s up to him to spread the ball around.
