I don't care how fast you are you have to at least have a bit of something on your frame. Desean Jackson weighed 169 at the combine in 2008 and has been in the high 160s in his carer. Tavon Austin was 174. Tyreek Hill, by the way, weighed in at 185 when he was drafted. Whatever Atwell is now, 168ish had better be in their plans for him.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I took a look at the latest 2022 projected NFL compensatory picks chart from OverTheCap now that the official "free agency window" has closed. If it holds up- and they're usually pretty accurate, and let's for a minute just assume the Rams have a good season and pick 25th again- this is a rough estimate of their 2022 draft picks slotting. 2(57) 3 (89) 3 (100)- comp. 4 (141)- comp.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
...is that the bottom three here also were the bottom three as far as draft capital entering the Draft. Difficult to overcome. See Tankathon NFL Draft Power Rankings I was shocked Seattle just stood pat with three draft picks. But at 56 (like with the Rams at 57) maybe there just wasn't a trade partner to be had.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
One thing they have going for them in 2022- they will enter the offseason with 11 draft picks. Now 8 of those 11 will be day three picks but still. It is more ammo to either move up for someone or maybe trade a pick or two for an established OL. And, presumably, they'll be in somewhat better financial shape.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Maybe so. That would be great. I hope he is. Just comparing the anticipated role in the NFL. Reynolds did run for 4,000 yards in college, though.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I think he is there purely to be on all four ST units. Cover kicks and punts. Block on KOR and PR. And if he can be a Reynolds-quality special teamer then it's a great selection.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Great stuff as always, thank you. Like you said, with limited info on team visits, medicals, add in the opt-outs, etc. this was a very weird draft year. I am with you 100% on Smith-Marsette. Would rather have had him in the 140s than Atwell (while getting Humphrey) at 57. Same with taking Quincy Roche or Stone Forsythe later. As you said, clear focus on run defense and special teams. I didnt have an issue trading down from 88. We had just all assumed they would trade back from 57. Again, I am hoping Jourdan can shed light on what happened there with trade down efforts. But in the end they wanted more picks between the late 2nd and the end of the 4th and they did that. Whenever you trade down you are always leaving some good players on the board. That is the risk/cost. Theby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Two possible small "value" additions there. Jackson (4-year starter at LT at Iowa) was ranked 221st on the aggregated (from across all the major draft sites) top 250 list I had. Paris Ford was listed 171st overall.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Alaric Jackson- 42 starts at LT for Iowa. And Jordan Meredith- three-years starter at RG for WKU. Both likely PS players (if they make it).by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
This Draft was described as one that would have teams' boards all over the place. One example being Walker Little who was reported to be a late 1st for some teams and a mid-3rd for others. Etc. So there has to be some tempering I think of the 'WTF is that' reactions. But... I didn't like the Atwell pick. Seems like a pure situational, gadget-type player even 3 years from now. I'm sure McVay wby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
72- Tremayne Anchrum G 67 -Chandler Brewer G (maybe?) 73 -David Edwards G 71- Bobby Evans T 79- Rob Havenstein T (maybe?) That's the problem they face.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Can they roll with who they have for 2021? Yeah. But it is very possible that among the current group that only a handful- Edwards, Evans, Anchrum, and Havenstein- return for 2022. They will have more money available and more draft picks (11 heading into that Draft) but obviously the OL will have to be rebuilt next offseason.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Again should not be dismissed how poor their ST were last year. Though I still question several picks.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Grambling kid. Or maybe the Texas Tech OL Anderson?by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Would be a nice option at 170.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
With their restructurings it's really not possible. In 2023? Could be. Not in 2021. But I do think the Atwell and Harris picks are in part insurance for Jackson, whose over/under for games played in 2021 is probably 4-5.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
No accident. Time to get ST out of the basement.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
That was the WR taken right before.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
We should keep in mind how bad special teams were last year. Guys like Jones and Rochell can help there immediately.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
From a recent Downtown Rams article: 4) Robert Rochell – Central Arkansas Robert Rochell is a late day two or early day three prospect that the Rams could most certainly have their eye on. He tested extremely well at his pro-day, running a 4.39 40-time and turned out a great composite speed grade. At 6’0, he has 32 inch arms and has 12 career take-aways and 38 career pass breakups. 4th round only. Added a 2022 3rd vs. another later round pick today.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Ian Rapoport talked this morning about a recent shoulder surgery Cox had that "is very hard to fix, not fully healed yet." First I've heard about it but could be a factor.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
I don't see the value of trading back further which might net them another 6th or something. Maximize the value of the 3 picks in the 4th, period. Ideally including an OL and Edge guy. Then they have two picks remaining (find another special teams ace like Scott) and UDFA to go get. The Rams need quality, not quantity. And heading into 2022- including projected comp. picks- they will have 11 dby LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
...will be if 3 of the 5 picks the Rams take between the 2nd and 4th rounds turn out to be good players. Plus get one late round pick to stick as a contributor. So let's see what they do today...by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
Just wondering. Consider that 3 of the 4 among Reeder, Young, Kiser and Howard are UFAs after 2021. Cox, Moses, McGrone all there. At EDGE, Roche, Weaver, Sample, Rumph all options in the 4th? And Go. Get. Twyman.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
A shame. I would much rather have taken him today with one of the 4ths than Atwell at 57.by LMU93 - RamsFootballFans.com
