If the Rams had another guy that could be a player maker behind Gurley, hanging onto Cunningham as a #3 role, utility guy would be ok and maybe even ideal.
But I don't see it in Brown. Given those parameters and the fact that something could happen to Gurley via injury, I much rather have a guy with the potential of some big plays versus a spot role player.
I go back to 0 touchdowns in 2 seasons and 3 runs over 20 yards.
I am very happy that Davis appears to have potential to get some more pop for the Rams when Gurley is out and for less salary cap money. Of course, if neither Brown or Davis can do the little things, than Cunningham as you alluded too, will surely be missed. You like to have the best of both worlds ideally, a guy that is reliable, makes the right plays, does the little things, but also has the ability to make a play.
