Another year, another list of names ... For those that aren't familiar with my process, I track players through their entire college career. I do not have access to anything beyond what announcers may say, and mostly I'm watching for specific skillsets that are valuable to me. These change over time, but not by a lot. My actual process of watching film has grown and I definitely get influenceby alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
That ^^ as always... I'm having issues seeing where guys are drafted more than usual. Normally the tiers have x amount of crossover but that doesn't seem true this year ... Top 25 is pretty solid ... maybe 2 surprises... Then? It's off the rails. Brooks went in the first in some mocks. For me you could wait to draft RB or safety until the 4th round. But some might be be top 50.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
I play it over in my head ... Carolina marching close to the goalline and fumbles... bounces funny ... Archuleta can't get his hands on it and it goes right by him. For me, I knew it was over then.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
I wanted him. He's a tough kid. He was in a rude situation. Team discarded their top edge rushers while they were still in the hunt and after almost beating the eagles ... Did him dirty IMO. I was hoping we'd make a move for him.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
The catch ... Bruce. Ridiculous throw ... perfect block. Perfect adjustment ...by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm going to say it again ... the year to draft a RB higher is next year. The quality is REALLY significantly higher. Like this draft is full of #2 RBs. Take one in the third or 5th, he's still a backup. If you take one in the second, you're reaching, in the first, you should be fired. Jonathan Brooks is likely the consensus top back ... if sophomores had declared he'd be #7 at best andby alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
Versus next year ... Most of the players this year were either college playoff contenders (this or previous years) or with the Heisman winner. You're not going to get that level of readiness next year. I like the kids next year okay (Burden, T McMillan, Egbuka, Bond, R Owens) but only 2 have that kind of experience.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
Exactly what I see.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
I'm doing my lists and there are a lot of talented DBs and LBs and even DTs that are going to go undrafted. We could be fine with less picks.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
Yep, first thing I thought. I thought Higgins to Buffalo second.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
Opens the door for Bill's to go after Higgins. Which would be wild but not completely crazy.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
Bueller? Ethan Driskell? Julian Pearl?by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
If we don't trade up (in this mock, Odunze is gone at 6 ... ) I see us taking multiple trade downs ...by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
I think DP hit every aspect ... I'd add that he looked like he was working on touch and accuracy in the post season ... And one other thing that I saw that I don't know about because it's rare. He just stands. He can generate power for a throw so quickly that he ends up being heavy footed in the pocket. Most guys bounce and reset every few seconds. Might lead to the inaccuracy issues.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
Yeah it's simply a great draft. Might have taken a LB instead of 2 CBs but I really like both CBs ... and LBs can slide right off the board real easy.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
There's a grouping of guys I'm watching for round 3 and he's in it. He's like Verse 2b. I'd rather him going forward, but he's a beast and has good drill #s. Dunno how he'd do moving backwards but I don't know that about Verse either. Pure projection. But he's on the short list for tier 2 late day 2.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
Saves us some time.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
Niiiiiice... They were all hard workers.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
Great explanation by Youngblood... Short answer from me is yes. If you're playing man (lock), any deficiency gets you beat. Mental is first ... then fluidity (hips, feet, ankles) ... then speed. Case in point ... he beats you off the line and his break surprises you ... Next he's smooth out of his break (3 cone) and doesn't lose speed. Then he accelerates to and through the ball (4by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
So Odunze will definitely be the third WR taken.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
When Arch comes out would be preferable ... Next year we have Ewers Jaxson Dart Will Howard Carson Beck Riley Leonard And a few others that could make a splash... I'm not trading up for any of them from the 32 spot, so why keep the pick? An OLT? Not at 32. If I liked someone a lot that could be had in round 2? Sure. Otherwise I'm waiting for another strong QB year. Wby alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
Another thing I thought of today ... Kupp has maybe a year or two, same with Stafford, and it's two years before we have to extend Puka ... If we land an absolute stud this year, he'll have a couple years with Stafford and Kupp to maximize potential, and then we'll have Puka and Odunze possibly in his 3rd year to break in a new QB with what should still be an intact O line. Really setsby alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
I have a lot of questions here, and since it looks like it's down to 5 or so players for the first round, I wanted to ask for more info on the one I know the least about. To anyone who is familiar with my reports but not my "style" of scouting, it's in the name. The book "Blink" was all about taking initial reactions ... like through intuition and rapid cognition ... and eby alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
I'd trade a first next year. I would maybe switch a 3rd for 4th this year. Odunze is a Julio Jones type. Yes he's that good. Bears taking a 10 spot dip for a first next year seems like a win. No QB next year is worth a first. Maybe OLT? We have to be ready this year.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
Only thing I can think would be that teams might trade out for QB and OT needy teams pushing odunze and Thomas down ... And I said it before... I'll trade a 1st in 25 to get odunze ...by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
He doesn't make my top 20, BUT there is basically no one else like him in the draft. If you want him, you take him before someone else does.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
3rd for Raheem.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
We have time to train hm, and that's the only reason he'd fall to 52.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
Bucky Irving.by alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
This is a good question ... especially since they go both directions in this draft (RB to WR or WR to RB) Tyrone Tracy and Dylan Laube are RBs that are WRs ... Ainais Smith has taken handoffs, believe Corley has as well. I think Corley will be the first drafted of that type, and he's got appeal to me in round 3, not before. Corley doesn;t have the hands or route running skills "I&quby alyoshamucci - RamsFootballFans.com
