So many great posts about the draft. A lot of fun to read. I can live with and have hope for the Atwell pick. But what scares me is the idea that this was a panic pick. That is, did Snead and McVay alter their pre-planned board order due to disappointment at the Seahawks picking Eskridge? Or, worse, did they never consider the possibility that Eskridge might not be available at 57? It deprby GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com

From ninersnation.com. "Much better at the most important position in sports" "Draft picks don't win games, good players do" "The Rams still draft well"by GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com
I think it is very reasonable to infer that. Quarterbacks better than Goff don't grow on trees.by GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com
It is such an important position. I am on pins and needles waiting to see if Wolford is an upgrade. I think there were strong signs in the Cardinals game that he is. But back to Donald and Goff for Watson. To take a random scale of measure, if our DL declines by 5 points in losing Donald, and our QB play goes up by 2 points in taking Watson, maybe it's a wash, given the relative importance ofby GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com
Yes, there could be some blowback. I will say that Donald doesn't come across as the complaining type. First, he was specifically asked about offensive holding. His answer was more on the sincere side than on the complaining side. Nor does he come across as the "conspiracy theory" type. Also, I don't see any coach that outdoes McVay in the "respect the refs", "coby GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com

I've also enjoyed watching the Bills start to emerge, and I watched their game with the Dolphins. However, I would have to say that that final TD pass to Brown was not a dime---it was more like a nickel, underthrown by a good five yards, but Brown was so wide open it was a TD anyway. You have to give credit to Allen for seeing the field, but not an extremely difficult read. The Bills go-aheadby GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com
Goff gets decapitated ---> Gallup gets called for PI. Could it be that the Rams are good at working the refs? Maybe Goff? I like to think he points out things to the refs with a minimum of emotion and a soupcon of respect, and doesn't overdo it. Or maybe Ramsey was working the refs? Or maybe Goff had nothing to do with it, and it was a pure make-up call? The straight arm was there,by GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com

He got the Rams back on track in 2002. Sure wish he was healthy to play against Washington. Warner needed another year or two to heal his hand.by GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com

... then I think it’s more applicable to Goff than McVay. S&D would coincide with Goff’s downturn exactly. Not so much McVay.by GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com
... were the first three plays shown in the NBC Rams-Bucs highlight summation before the Saints-Cowboys. They are trying to beat it into everybody's head that Goff sucks. Who else gets such loving coverage as that? Nobody, that's who. Except maybe Vontaze Burfict.by GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com
McDonald's does have good coffee. They upgraded their coffee a while back, maybe 25 years ago? But Jack in the Box upgraded theirs before MacDonald's did, maybe in the 80s?. MacDonald's was the second. I remember cruising for Jack in the Box coffee. Then McDonald's got on the train. Now about them Rams.... I think McVay's got good beans stashed away somewhere. What happens when "we not me" comes up against "me not we"? Let's hope it doesn't turn out like it did for the Lone Ranger in the joke where the indians approached. The opposite case being good out-of-pocket, bad in-pocket. Although I don't agree either. I always thought John Elway was an interesting example of being bad in-pocket, at least for the first five years of his career. But he developed. Early on, he was always throwing bonehead interceptions in the pocket, while being brilliant when improvising on the run. Anyway, I'm good with Goff at 3by GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com
McVay may not ever equal Belichick when using Belichick's strengths as a measuring stick. McVay is a genius at implementing all the details of a good system under the goldfish bowl of modern media. But whether he equals Belichick in the grandmaster moves really remains to be seen.by GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com
It’s not a given yet that McVay plus Goff is greater than McVay plus Bortles. I estimate that the Goff side of the equation will be the greater, but I need to see it played out in front of me. McVay is a tremendous asset in quarterback development. How smart is it then to bring in a young veteran QB who hasn’s quite lived up to expectations but has shown certain strong points, and see how he deveby GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com

That is it exactly. The Patriots are unique in how conservative they are in monetarily rewarding a breakout year. Not so the Rams. The Patriots always have hungry players to take full advantage of their coaching prowess. I am worried that that will not be the case with the Rams.by GarlicExile - RamsFootballFans.com
