Quotemax Quotemoklerman The Saints game wasn't a complete game by him either. He came up big in overtime to seal the win but an 83 rating and what could have easily been a loss isn't disproving the idea that Goff hasn't been the same QB that he was against the Vikings and Chiefs. QuoteSpeed_Kills you are looking too much at the stats in that one for example if you take away the tipped Gurley pass alone I'm sure that rating goes well above 90 the way he managed that noise... made killer clutch throws... settle in nicely after the nerves settle New Orleans was a signature game for GoffI think it's more accurate to say he had good moments during that game but I don'by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Quotezn QuoteLMU93 I agree with the rust idea. The last live action vs an opponent was a month earlier in live scrimmages vs LAC and then OAK. He has a ways to go in growing. No question. But vs Carolina he did a lot of taking what the defense gave him which is supposedly a lesson the McVay Rams offense need to learn. Quotemax QuoteSaguaro If Goff continues to play poorly, and spirals downward to being a bust, then a lot of us are just wrong. On the other hand, if he at some point starts to play better again, and has a good career for the Rams, then 2 steps forward 1 step back is exactly what we're in the middle of right now, not a "crutch", or something people are just making up. I didn't say you weren't aware of these things I just think your scale might be a little skewed because you're using 80 as the line. One could arguably use 90 as the line between good and bad and if so, that would illustrate the decline even more. Overall, I agree with your premise and have been expressing a similar opinion. The passer rating scale has shifted in recent years IMO. In today's NFL an 80 rating isn't just subpar, it's bad. In 2017 there were only 6 QB's under the 80 mark and last year there were only 4. It used to be that an 80 rating was relatively respectable but still something to be improved upon. Now, an 80 rating is pretty bad, relatively speaking. Quotesacram subpar game for Goff, we're done here. No sense in any further discussion. GO RAMS!!Well, considering you haven't actually said anything, I'm not sure what you're done with? But if you want to use the term subpar then yes, Goff's game against New Orleans was subpar for him in general and subpar compared to how he'd played the Saints the previous 3 times. Quotesacram Did you watch the Arizona or Whiner games to finish out the year? How about the NFC championship game? Just wonderin....As a matter of fact, I did and no, Goff was not as good as he was before the bye. And that was against inferior talent in 2 of the 3 games. But I'm also not limiting it to one game or two or cherry picking numbers. In the 9 games since last year's bye, Goffby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
I appreciate taking a larger sample size in general but I think there is a clear line of demarcation with Goff. After his huge primetime game against the Chiefs, he hasn't been the same. It seems that NFL defenses have taken something away or adjusted to what the Rams are doing.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
IMO, Goff was able to put up numbers that were above his ability because of the system and personnel. Now, he's trying to learn how to be an NFL QB and it's the normal growing that a guy has to go through. Instead of happening his sophomore season like most young starters, he's having to do it later because of the early success of McVay and his system. I think it is paramount for the Rams toby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Since the bye last year, Goff has been pretty poor statistically: 188/325 (57.8%) 2039 (6.3 ypa) 8TD (2.5%)/9INT (2.8%) 73.1 rating. Over the last 9 games he has been one of the worst QB's in the league. Less than 60% completion, less than 7 yards/attempt, less than 1TD/game...I really didn't expect him to struggle to open this season but he's apparently still in a funk.by moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com

I get the feeling there's something else going on. Gurley looks healthy so that's a good thing but he doesn't look happy. Officially ZERO red zone touches and another two inexplicable fumbles make it seem like there is something going on with him. Why has the always sure-handed, dependable, dual threat RB been so distracted looking? I think McVay has been challenging Gurley to clean thingsby moklerman - RamsFootballFans.com
Since the bye last year, Goff hasn't been the same. His pedestrian numbers since then now continue into the new season. 69 QB rating today is just bad and that's without the dropped interception. Goff was missing reads, inaccurate with some passes, not getting the ball down the field, holding the ball too long and very uncomfortable and indecisive looking.
