Seems like a it will be a good year to take a developmental QB.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
43 I agree with your sentiments of wanting to keep BM. Unless there is not a good market to BM talents which I find highly unlikely, there is basically no way he stays with the Rams. I don't think any secret deal would be legal or enforceable and why would Stafford agree to retire early? Would he have to give up money? If not ouch a big cap hit Face it the Rams mortgaged the future andby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks for the cap reality check. Now there is a chance we can have realistic conversations.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Baker Mayfield is going to be a FA and he will leave the Rams for a starting position on another team. He has played himself into being a NFL caliber starting QB and will take the money and the opportunity as he should. The big difference for Baker is that he gets to pick the situation next season. This gives him all the leverage. Baker will probably have an opportunity to sign a deal forby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Alyo, The QB class next year looks really strong at the top with Maye & Williams. How is the depth?by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Next Season the Rams can have a playoff quality roster so why would you rebuild next season? You wait until the all the cap cheats for future years catch up with you then you rebuild by eating a bunch of dead money for a couple of season while you accumulate young talent and free up $$$ to add more cornerstone players.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
It seems like we have a lot of young inexperienced guys emerge, like Durant, Tutu, Hoecht etc and blame the coaches for not putting them in earlier. First off I would say that we should recognizing that the coaches are doing a good job getting these young inexperienced players ready to play and contribute at a high level. None of these guys are high first rounders who come ready to play. No thby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Michael Hoecht has been a great discovery. He looks like he will be a big cog in next years defense. I imagine with Donald back he will thrive. We seem to have a lot of young players emerging because they got a chance due to the huge amount of injuries. This can only bode well for next season. Hoecht & Durant look like bidding stars & Jones did not disappoint in his 2nd season. Addby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Cam sure looked great. All they needed to do was rehab his brain.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Yes we are really finding some of the young guys that can play. Heck we may have found our edge for the future. I interested to see if our Offensive line can continue to perform at a high level. It sure bodes well for next season if they can. Fun game with lots of bright spots. Gameplan seemed to be more creative than usual. Heck just about everything worked on both offense and defense.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Baker sure looks like a good starting QB and those are in high demand. He has also been screwed by being on lousy teams and he may want to be able to choose a good spot to land. Only way I can see him staying is if the opportunities out there are all with crap teams and if he thinks it would be helpful for his long term development to stay with the Rams. Stafford will be the starter and therby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Nice Post totally agree Injury disaster. While the injuries were to much to overcome I think this may have exposed areas that can be looked at for improvement going forward many of which were mentioned in the other posts.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Merry Christmas to you all. Let's remember that the savior was born and we celebrate his birth today. Peace and Joy to all of you.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
This year has been a disappointment but the future for next season still looks bright. On offense we need a RB & TE and the draft is good on both of these positions. We have a good QB, good WR corp, and a decent backup RB. The offensive line should be healthy and if healthy it should be decent. Defense: The line depth got to play & has looked pretty good. Lets hope they findby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Boom will be on the team next season because he can perform at a high level when healthy. However, Boom is injury prone and this is yet another example of a bad contract where the player has had injuries and reminds me of the Gurley contract which cause us to eat a lot of dead money. Perhaps we had no choice as we needed a left tackle and Jackson certainly wasn't proven enough to take over.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
If Amazon wins it will become available to all Prime Customers at a premium price. If Google wins it will probably come as a premium addition to YouTube TV which has a pretty low entry price with lots of value. Either way Sunday Ticket will be widely available without having the boat anchor of DirecTV. In the end it will be more cost effective and another reason to cut the cord or the satellitby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
This is a tough year and a lot of things were outside the control of McVay and Snead but still is was a disaster of a year. The fact that we started the year with a contender window of probably 2 years makes this extremely painful. I started as a Ram fan when Roman Gabriel was QB and we had the Fearsome Foursome. I was just a kid but the Rams were magical but couldn't get by Green Bay and lateby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Gaines would probably cost less to retain which may enter into the decision. I would not be shocked if the both go.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
The road ahead for the Rams gets a lot more difficult though I believe the window is open for another year after which we will be in cap hell for a few seasons. Here are some questions I believe McVay should be asking himself. Why didn't Goff work out? It seems he is doing well in Detroit and he did well in LA before defenses changed could McVay have done things differently? Was I too iby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Agree with 43 OL need to invest 1 pick in top 3 rounds RB that can push the pile & get yards TE Safety big need CB I would add DL as Robinson & Gaines most likely gone If Higbee goes TE probably #1 tied with RB Backup QB also on the list. Nice if Mayfield saw a win win to stay a year with the Rams.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Just a shout out to 43 and for all the great contributions he makes to the forum. BTW I love all the news clippings that you and BerendsenRam bring to the forum. And while it may be controversial I also enjoy when you grab a good post from another forum and post it for us to see. Again thanks.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
That Crosby is one heck of a player. Hav's had his hands full all game.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Did you see that pass interference call? Tutu made that foul happen as he ambushed the safety on a ball he would never get to. It didn't show up in the box score but was a great play. Also good to see Bobby Brown showing he has a future on the defensive line. Will need him next season, maybe to start.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think it is natural to prejudge young players that are not in the rotation and may be limited to special teams. Many are later round picks that need to develop certain areas of their game. The coaches see the development in practice but when they aren't playing in the games we just assume they are busts. We have watched Skow develop during the season and he is a better player than at thby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
He may sign a 1 year contract for 4-6 Mil just to spend a season under McVay. He would be a huge upgrade as the backup.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Gosh was it fun to be a Ram fan again. Expectations were low and Baker gave us a Hollywood story that is almost unbelievable. It will ba a game to remember. Also a call out to Skow and Tutu who both looked really good. I think Tutu even broke a tackle. It would be nice if Baker was our backup next year. Also defense started out terrible but finished strong. Morris made some reallyby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Drafting Tutu: I think the reasoning behind drafting Tutu was that McVay wanted to add someone who could be explosive to the offense and on their draft board he was the highest rated guy that fit the bill. From the recent small sample size it seems that Tutu is able to make explosive plays as he has caught a few really big ones and last week was wide open but he was under thrown. I understandby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
43 I agree with your analysis except that I don't see where the Rams open up cap space to sign a good LOT. Jackson/Boom will fight it out. I also see at least 1 3rd or 4th rounder being used for OL. Maybe they cut Allen and save 6Mil per but they will need someone to backup Center and will need another OT to groom.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Based on our current situation it is time to see what we have in McCutcheon & Tutu. Also they Perkins may feel more in sync with those guys.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I remember when we brought Warner to camp straight from bagging groceries and he went on to be probably the best QB in Rams history. All it took was an injury to Trent Green to give him a chance. Can lighting strike twice? It sure as heck would make a great story and we could sure use one. Anyway I am excited to see what Perkins can do but with his style of play you never know if the Caseby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
