QuoteDeadpool I haven't given any of this Stafford stuff serious thought, but man is it gaining some steam. So I put some popular teams linked to Stafford with realistic trade scenarios: Note: I'm signing Davante Adams in every scenario as soon as he's cut. Long in the tooth, but he replaces Kupp and gives the Rams a nice 1 2 punch with Nacua and doesn'r forse the Rams to draft a WR in the 1stby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
McVay is tough on QBs just as Jared Goff. I don't see Darnold, who has had 1 decent season as the type of tough minded QB that would fit well with McVay's intense coaching style. Between that concern and being nervous that last season was a fluke I would be very wary committing the big $$$ it will take to sign him.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
43 what you call a viable Plan B in Jimmy G. most probably doesn't include making the playoffs next season. Also is he the plan B for the following season? Signing Stafford for 2 more years is our best shot at being a relevant contender for the next 2 seasons. Really good QBs are hard to find and Jimmy G is not a really good QB. If he was the league would be offering him big bucks and he woulby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
While the Rams want the Stafford situation to be resolved as quickly as possible we must all realize that in the negotiation Stafford loses all leverage with a quick settlement. Stafford knows that the Rams have not given their best offer yet I suspect that he is waiting and requesting more dollars, guarantees or years before this deal gets done. At some point there will be an agreement or aby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
McSnead seems to have found the magic formula for drafting the last couple of years. This next draft is loaded so if they focus on taking the best players we should be good. Also Snead has done a great job of late in the middle and late rounds. We need a QB and there isn't on to pick this year. Better get Stafford for 2 more years.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Rams chances of advancing in the playoffs next season or even getting into the playoff hinges on retaining Stafford or getting a replacement of equal or greater value. Garoppolo or Fields are not getting us into the playoffs. Both are mediocre at best. The worse thing is that Rams have not QB for the following season either. The Rams when a long time after Warner to finally get to Goff.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I have major problems with Ball Security. Did it cost a a win in Philly? Someone said it can be taught. Well he must be a slow learner because it has been a problem for 3 years. The other issue I have is that each season Williams gets hurt. He has a tough running style and takes a lot of tough hits. How long will he be productive? Resign him yes but I wouldn't break the bank or go moreby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Sorry 43 gotta disagree. Jimmy G would be in the bottom 15% of starting QBs and that may be generous. You need a good QB if you are gonna win and he is not that guy anymore.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks Dead Great Stuff. I am still wrapping my head around taking a WR in Round 1 but it makes a lot of sense when I think about it. With the depth at WR/TE I wouldn't be surprised to see a trade down where we end up with another 2 & 3 to take advantage of the depth in this draft.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Wow great work. Loved Deadpool comments too. It seems like this is a really strong draft at RB, TE, OL, DL and DB with good talent into the middle rounds. It will be exciting to see how things shape up. Again thanks for the great analysis.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteRams43 Just some general thoughts, not a mock nor any specific players. I leave those to my betters. So, here are the needs in no particular order with the understanding that Snead might use any combo of trades, FA, or the draft to fill these needs. And I’m assuming that Stafford was made happy and is in camp plus AJackson was extended. So here we go… QB RB TE WR OT DL ILBby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
QuoteLMU93 His past two seasons... There haven't been many back-to-back seasons better than that by a Rams' RB. The top 15: 1. Dickerson (83-84)- 3,913 yards 2. Dickerson (84-85)- 3,339 3. Dickerson (85-86)- 3,055 4. Faulk (00-01)- 2,741 5. Faulk (99-00)- 2,740 6. Steven Jackson (10-11)- 2,657 7. Steven Jackson (05-06)- 2,574 8. Todd Gurley (17-18)- 2,556 9. 43 You are the eternal optimist and I like that a lot. I always enjoy you posts too. Thanks for making the board a good place to go because you drive thoughtful discussion.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Merry Christmas to all you great Rams fans. You all make the Board the place to go for Rams information May we be blessed with 2 more wins and a great run in the playoffs. Remember the reason for the the season.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Thanks 43 Nice Write up. Defense does seem to be frustrating but the last 2 games they have given up 15 points. Now that is some whoop-de-doo type of defense. Hats off to Shula Offense seems be be getting untracked as the Offensive Line is healthy and doing some great blocking in the running game. Still we have only scored 31 points over the last 2 games against teams with losing recordby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Jim Brown is still on the top with Power, Speed and Moves. OJ was tremendous but not quite Jim Brown. Dickerson like OJ had the defenses stacked against him but had the speed and power like OJ & Brown. Sanders didn't have the power but he had moves like no other. Payton, Faulk, Sayers, Smith were also great but I will stick with Brown, OJ, Dickerson & Sanders as my top 4by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
This is what the Rams look like when healthy, especially the offensive line. Everyone but Robinson is now ready to go. McVay seems to have his game planning and play calling going in the right direction too. Defense still has a way to go.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Max I totally agree with you. McVay didn't handle Goff well. There were some scheme issues and Goff was always under terrible pressure. While the trade worked out for both teams the Rams lost a valuable asset and had to pay a huge price to get Stafford. I still root for Goff and will watch the Lions when it doesn't conflict with the Rams.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I think they were both dinged up. I did notice that Whittington was targeted with a pass in the last game so he at least must be healthy.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Thank for posting this is sad news.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Tutu may not be the perfect WR in all aspects of the game but he has extraordinary skills. He can get open better than any WR on the Rams except maybe Kupp. He regularly gets behind the defense. He regularly draws Pass Interference calls on deep balls resulting in huge gains. He can go over the middle and catch the deep ball. He makes the defense play differently. Apparentby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
43 while I think your logic on Stafford is solid I think your conclusion is wrong. At Stafford's age they may not want to give a long term extension but I can see them adding another year after each successful season. It took the franchise a long time to get the QB the really really like and I don't see them switching him out until it is obvious he can no longer perform at a high level. I thinby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Deacon Jones AD Dickerson I think you can make a strong argument that Jones and AD are as good as anyone who has ever played their position. Dickerson in his prime was a good and dominate as any running back except Jim Brown who was the best ever. We have had a lot of other stars but for me those guy stood out. I was a kid when Deacon Jones played so I don't know about Waterfield or Fby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
It seems pretty obvious that they were committed to trading Jones and didn't want him to get hurt and screw up the deal. The real question was why were they so committed to trading him? His salary wasn't bad so the cap savings isn't that significant, he is a very productive player, near pro bowl level, and is significantly better than the backups. Were they afraid he wouldn't play with recklesby David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
43 I really like your write up it was a great summary. Only optimistic thing I can think that you missed is that all the young guys we drafted last year should be better with a year under their belt. I love the blend of exciting talented young studs with proven vets. Hopefully we stay healthy and more studs emerge from the last 2 draft hauls.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
I hope you are right. He is fun to watch when he gets a chance. I see where they are trying him at Kickoff Returns with the new rules in place it may be a fit.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
He is too small to be an effective blocker and McVay loves WR that can block.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Atwell may be on the bubble but he can consistently get behind defenses and will often draw pass interference penalties or make a catch. While he can't block he could be a good decoy. I expect though he gets traded for a late round pick.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
Drew Brees was 6' 203 similar to Bennett.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
49ers are paying squat to their QB either. Wait until that bill comes due. I think next Season they will have to put a 1st round tender on him or sign him outright.by David Deacon - RamsFootballFans.com
