make a very small percentage of what MDs make and yet they go through almost the exact same med school and training. And now the small practitioners are being gobbled up by corporate centers like Banfield, etc. Moreover, now people have Vet insurance which negotiates even smaller charges. Being a veterinarian is not the same as before and compared to a physician is nowhere close to the same income structure. Growing up I wanted to be a veterinarian and attend UC DAVIS the best of the best in veterinarian med school. I did not have the grades nor the money and today I couldn't even dream of it. Income wise-it's a thankless profession.
