If you suspect bone cancer, get an x-ray.. Mauie has Lyme's Disease, so maybe once a year she would start favoring a leg and be in severe pain.. but antibiotics clears it up almost overnight.. you have to keep giving them for a month, but symptoms go away overnight.. So, we started treating her for Lymes and she immediately got better.. so, we thought Lymes for sure..
So, Thursday night she's running around like a wild dog and suddenly pulls up lame on her rear left leg.. then could barely walk , at all.. took her to the vet, to be sure, and the x-ray confirmed either bonce cancer of a fungal infection.. we get the results in, now, 4 days.. She's barely been able to walk since.. will walk a few feet, then lie down.. we carry her outside and bring water and food to her.. its heartbreaking..
She's one of the few dogs that will stare into my eyes for long periods an I keep trying to figure out what she's trying to tell me.. I don't want her to lose her leg - it seems so barbaric, but a necessary evil to keep the bone cancer from spreading, if that's what it is.. She's, by far, our youngest dog, so just so unfair to her..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
