Strange. Yesterday afternoon, early, I saw him lying on the front lawn looking out of sorts. Ill. I checked him out, he responded fairly well but without his normal exuberance.
I was going to speak to my daughter about him and tell her to take him to the vet, today. BUT... when she arrived at my home last night, I was already in bed, she found him on the driveway deceased. Unfortunately my daughter's kids, my grandkids, were with her... they aren't taking it well, as you would expect.
He was a very large dog so it's 'possible' he was hit by a car suffering internal injuries... but there was no visible sign of injury. He didn't chase cars but he did wander often. Spent the night digging a grave for him... later today we'll add a marker of some sort. Being a farmer I have plenty of land for this type of thing.... and I've lost count of the pets I've had to bury... and it never gets any easier. - JamesJM
