We take our dogs to the park, for walks, to pickup pizza (Lucie almost killed me once picking up pizza) and whatnot.. When we would then take one dog to the vet (and when we had 2 dogs we'd always take both to get the other one out of the house, as well.. its too difficult to take all3 now) it always crosses my mind that the stay home dogs are thinking we're at the park or walking..
Heck, even when we go to work, I think the dogs think we spend all day at the park.. Now, I know dogs aren't analytical or reason things out - to a degree - but it does cross my mind every time it happens..
When Lucie passed, we brought her home, in order to take her the next day to be cremated.. we cranked the AC real low so we could spend our last night with her, even tho she had passed.. Torrie lay down beside her (she was in the box they gave us to transport to the crematorium) with the saddest look I've ever seen on her face.. didn't make a peep.. just lay there..
It was powerful moment.. almost as powerful as the look of disdain on her face when we brought Gypsie home - which quickly melted away as they bonded.. Gypsie loved Torrie, so Torrie kinda gave in... Then Torrie passed away and Gypsie acted similarly to Torrie when Lucie passed...
To be honest, I know we only have 2-4 years left with Gypsie.. that one is gonna really hurt..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
