It has actually worked quite well for me....

....but I don't use it for anything other than simple entertainment, and keeping in touch with family that I would not normally see for years (if not decades). I try to dodge the political stuff, and don't need if for business ventures... But for the occasional funny memes, and photos or videos of my nephew/nieces kids making their first goal, or going to their first dance, but live 3 states away.... Other than the whole creepy 'algorithm' thing, it does just fine for me.
