One guy on our side realized the school board did not follow procedures on the last vote, when they voted 4-3 to kill the Coyotes.. the school board president, who is a real horse's arse, bragged that he was using a specific type of resolution - "Robert's Rules of Order" to put the matter to bed with a vote to kill the Coyotes
So, our guy dug into Robert's Rules of Order.. I'm not exactly sure WHAT the school board did that didn't follow the guidelines of Robert's Rules of Order, but the rules state that if all guidelines are not followed and a vote is taken, the issue has to win by a 2/3rds majority - not a simple majority.. The vote was 4-3, which is CLOSE, but not a 2/3rds majority.. It would be SWEET if they tried to bend the rules in their favor, were caught, and it opened the door to us being able to file a grievance..
So, if someone files a grievance, the board is required to propose a solution that satisfies the submitter of the grievance.. So, our guy sent the grievance to the the school board and stated the ONLY satisfactory resolution would be to add the Coyotes and Raiders to the vote, when the kids vote to select the mascots.. The board has not yet replied to him, but have scheduled a closed door session next Thursday.. We are assuming its to discuss this issue..
So, think Jim Carey in Dumb and Dumber: "so you're saying there's a chance"... Very slim chance, but we're pushing every avenue we can.. How awesome would it be to get what we want because they tried to screw us and made a simple error in their procedure that opened the door for us.. We'll see..
