So, a few things have happened lately.. First of all, I don't remember if I posted this, or not, but late 4th quarter, Super Bowl, I thought IW as literally having a minor heart attack.. I kind of went into a pretty serious prayer and said I would give up the Coyote name if we won the Super Bowl.. seriously.. I realized that I love the Coyotes, but in this whole ordeal, I never felt like I was having a heart attack over it.. I thought I was with the Rams.. I chose the Rams..
So, things are picking up regarding the Coyotes, after being quiet for a month.. last week the school board had a meeting at noon on Tuesday, meaning a large faction of us couldn't go, due to work.. they put forth a plan to create another committee to decided what to do.. they called ANOTHER meeting this Tuesday night to discuss it further..
So, part of our argument is that the schools are already $20 million EACH over budget and need to save money EVERYWHERE.. It costs around $1 million to change school names/mascots/uniforms, etc, so that's been a large part of our argument.. why waste the money when you're already that far over budget?
Let me explain who Elizabeth Yeager is.. she's on the school board, wealthy family, I graduated with her - she's a Coyote, her mom was ex city counsel - the local 10K seat arena is named after her mom.. Elizabeth Yeager has been THE most outspoken member of the school board wanting to KILL the Coyotes.. for some reason, she wants to do away with the Coyotes and isn't shy about stating it.. she and I had a stare down at the last school board meeting.. She knows I'm leading this movement.. I know she's the biggest opponent of it..
Last night the local newspaper did a story.. A local family/group is donating $8 million dollars to make up for being so far over budget.. The family donating the money is the Prothros, who Elizabeth Yeager is a part of.. The MOST outspoken member of the school board wanting to KILL the Coyotes family just donated $8 million dollars to get the schools back on track..
Is this NOT clearly a conflict of interest? She's obviously donating the money to kill our argument to keep the names/mascots.. Where was their donation BEFORE we started our movement? When they were ALREADY $20 million over budget.. we are so pissed we can't even begin to tell you.. A big money donor, who wants to kill the Coyote legacy, just provided the money to do so.. I don't see how we stand a chance, now..
But.. last week I made the deal to bring the Lombardi home, so I guess I can't complain.. I'm not done fighting, tho.. We will keep the fight up, even tho now its a case of money BUYING a desired outcome.. doesn't it ALWAYS come down to money?
