onstage sound compared to out front sound through the mains.. like I've said, there is NOTHING cooler than sound checking and hearing the sound guy bring the guitar up through the mains.. its like.... well, Clark Kent becoming Superman.. its is sooooo amazing.. especially when you play more of a power style guitar, like me.. I imagine bringing up an acoustic would be cool, but not as cool as bringing up a Marshall stack..
The most amazing sound I've ever had was opening for WASP in '84.. Full blown PA, but also a full blown side-throw system.. side throws, for non musicians, are kind of a smaller PA system that sits on each side of the stage pointed toward the center of the stage to "fill in" the areas that monitors don't really fill with sound.. they have an entirely separate guy doing the mix for the side throws, and believe me, once you've played with side throws, you don't ever wanna play without them.. I remember playing, looking at the guy running the side throws and just upping my chin - kind of to tell him to bump up the guitar up in the side throws.. I have never been immersed with so much guitar in my life.. it was soooooooo glorious and powerful.. I get goosebumps just remembering it.. One of the few times in life I felt all-powerful.. like nothing could stop me..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
