I'm going to have to think about that - "Best Venue Ever". We played so many I liked. Piper Opera House in Virginia City, Nevada was spectacular. I wrote about that.. they still had props and costumes etc. from the 1800's behind the stage and the entire building was a living museum.
Robert Mondavi's home.... "Wine Vintner"... actually we played in his barn but took our breaks on his porch... and what a porch it was. I think maybe 6 jacuzzi's on the porch? Big as a football field. And the barn... well, this was no ordinary barn.
Hearst Castle... again, however, not the castle itself but the barn, dairy barn, and again, not your ordinary dairy barn.
Don't remember the name... but a stage much like the one you described in Paso Robles, Ca. Upstairs. We carried the equipment up a fire escape staircase on the back side of the building.
More than a few gigs... we had to 4X4 to remote areas... Sierra Nevadas, Coast Range of Calif. Some not actually 4X4 but dirt road access and MILES into the background in Nevada, Arizona, Oregon.
Might have to write a book one day... "Life Of A Musician"... but the 'musician' part of the story will only be briefly noted... instead: The adventures, the people I met, etc. - JamesJM
