the best sound systems we've played thru because I was not out front. No doubt that best sound system we ever played thru was just a couple years ago in Oregon when we opened for Trace Adkins, Dwight Yoakam, some others... (not all in the same night, it was a 3? day music fest)....
So I heard THEM playing on that setup, which maybe was similar? I tend to doubt it.
More than likely when we played, even though it was the same equipment, it wasn't quite as dialed in as when they took the stage. That Oregon sound setup up, by the way, was more than my brain could take in. Between the actual sound gear and the light show equip. and other stuff I couldn't even tell you what it was for.... it was like being on a nuclear sub, in other words barely room move around. Yes, small designated areas for the musicians but mostly equip and enough cable to reach Neptune and back.
I'm not sure I have "a", singular, favorite setup we ever played thru... none comes to mind anyway, but several excellent setups do. We have seldom played where there were several, at least more than one, sound technicians working the system. Usually it's one guy... like those traveling Budweiser stages.
