I'd never heard it before. So because of your post, I decided to give it a listen. I went to youtube, but didn't watch..., just listened. And I liked it! Of course it will never be the original, but I don't think that's what they were going for at all. It does stay true to the original, in that it starts hauntingly mellow, and gradually builds becoming more powerful in delivering the message. But aside from that it is quite different, and that's what I liked. It would be near impossible to duplicate the angelic harmony's of S&G, but the lead vocalist does have quite a range. At certain points he takes liberties with the melody, but there is no doubt that the root is always Sounds of Silence. So I found it enjoyable.... but that's just my 'arm chair' musical opinion.
Regarding Chase & Murry... they are not personal favorites of mine, though they have made me laugh hard from time to time....
