About 20 years ago, me and my ex watched a show on VH1...."What Happened To Rock"... or a like title. They interviewed several Rock Stars. Lita Ford and Dokken are two I recall. Don Dokken said their Manager casually mentioned that they stay Rock but veer from the same ol same ol.....In Dokken's words...."The saaaaaaaame Spandex....The saaaaaaame big hair.......The saaaaaame Rock Ballads". He said the Band told the Manager his was crazy. What was going on was "THE THING!!!" It was where the money was. BUT......Many fans got tired of the broken record. Then Grunge creeped in.
I recall telling my Ex that Don Dokken reflected EXACTLY what I felt. All the bands looked and sounded the same. 32 years later, I am STILL sick of Poison's "Every Rose Has Its Thorn" (BEEEEEEEAT TOOOO DEATH!!!!!!!!!) But I certainly did not swing to grunge.
CRAP! Now everyone has swung to the Hip Hop / Rap crap with the saaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame beat to EVERY song (A thump of base and cymbol?)
Even MY favorite back in the day, U2, went to hell after "Rattle & Hum".
