Oh, the tambourine... I forgot to mention...

as you know most drummers who need a tambourine add it to their hi-hat so it 'rings' every close. Even my electronic kit has that option.. but I never use it.

So nope, never saw a dummer hold the tambourine and use it as their cymbal hand. I wouldn't think 'fast' would be a problem, however, since it rings on both the down and up swing... IOW... double to speed of single stroking a cymbal. When I was the lead singer in my first band I used one occasionally... got pretty good, could spin it, toss it and catch it.
